Do you ever feel like you are jumping from one thing to the next before you have time to digest and absorb the thing you are doing? Is this a regular pattern or does it happen occasionally? What do you notice about yourself when you are operating this way? You may want to take a minute to reflect on this, to connect with how it feels in your body and what happens to your energy.
Everything from our thoughts to work responsibilities, social engagements, eating, exercise, daily household tasks, activities of interest and anything else we are called to do have the potential to invigorate or deplete our energy stores depending on the integrity of our foundation.
Some days we may experience a steady flow of energy, we feel calm, cool, collected, and clear. Then there may be days that we struggle to be present and digest all that we are doing, experiencing, thinking and feeling, which can be draining. The functioning of our body will often reflect the quality of our energy.
For a long time I viewed the days of struggle as though I was failing at life because I would get so overwhelmed, exhausted and my body wasn't feeling optimal. This perception of myself only created more internal stress and therefore depleting my energy and my health. My journey of healing and self discovery has lead to a multidimensional path of getting to the root of imbalance and dis-ease, which includes regular practices that fuel me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I now see my struggles as an opportunity to take an inventory of where my energy is going, to understand what is out of balance, and make an effort to replenish in an appropriate way.
Health is a journey not a destination, with many twists and turns, ups and downs, it is definitely NOT linear. By listening to the body's messages we learn more about what is needing attention throughout each day and then take the appropriate steps to take care of ourselves. One step at a time. Trusting the process.
